El Canamo Xalapa

el Canamo, which predictably translates to Hemp in Spanish, is reminiscent of the textural landscape of Mexico. Feeling sunbeaten and coarse, dry and sparse this offering of hemp and linen fibres woven into a tapestry of unique textiles are perfect for upholstery, accesories and soft goods. Creatively they will find themselves in sculptural situations where texture and form are important. 100% sustainable and hardwearing.

Fabric Details

Xalapa is very heavy and coarse. A group of 2 rope like weft yarns are woven in place by a lighter warp yarn creating a weighty fluid textile.

Care & Cleaning

Textile can be washed. Cushion covers, towels, curtains etc can all be laundered very easily dependent on size and make-up. We recommend a warm water cycle with 1/2 the soap and an extra rinse. Use of a softer soap is recommended, one that is generally used for finer fabrics. Stains can be attended to locally but remember to rinse out all excess soap. These textiles can also be dry cleaned and spot cleaned effectively.  While you can use a dryer, you will likely experience some shrinkage due to heat. We recommend a hang dry and an air or warm cycle in the dryer to soften the fabric.

Furniture should be vacuumed regularly and wiped with a moist cloth to clean the surface of dust.
